HB Beauty Bar: Color Club Desert Valley Collection Swatches + Review

- PROVIDED FOR REVIEW -

Hey guys! It's been about a month since my last post, which is really crazy - I promise I will post a blog update on everything you guys have missed me posting on Instagram and YouTube (which I have been active on!) soon, but with me moving (today!!) from New Jersey to Georgia, I just haven't had time to sit down and write a blog post.

Anyway, today I'm sharing with you a new Color Club collection from HB Beauty Bar called the Desert Valley Collection. It's been so long since I've swatched a full collection, and I have really missed it, so it's nice to be back (hopefully I will be back to posting on a regular schedule again soon, although it'll probably be once a week instead of every day.)

This collection features seven gorgeous cremes:

Delush Polish Spring to Conclusions Collection Swatches + Review

- PROVIDED FOR REVIEW -

Hello guys! I know I am super behind on posting these - as I mentioned a couple days ago, my computer has just been so slow so editing photos and writing blog posts is taking a really long time lately. But not to worry, I've got a new one on the way!

Anyway, today I've got the Delush Polish Spring to Conclusions collection that's new for Spring 2015. This set contains six gorgeous spring crellies packed with colorful glitters.

I am absolutely in love with the Delush crelly ("crelly" = somewhere between an opaque creme and a sheer jelly polish!) formula - application is so smooth and surprisingly opaque! Plus, I didn't have to fish for ANY glitters in this collection - they were on my brush easily without even storing the bottles upside down (although I do recommend doing that with all glitter polishes!) Anyway, let's get into it:

As I mentioned, this collection consists of 12 bright shades in a variety of finishes, all with a glorious spring/summer feel - perfect to wear in hopes of warmer weather! It feels like it's been forever since I've swatched OPI shades, and I missed how easy they were to apply, with their incredible formulas and wide brushes. Anyway, today I have to show you the Love Tahiry Collection by Color Club, a set of seven Valentine's Day themed polishes designed by Tahiry Jose (I don't know who she is, but a quick Google search tells me she's an actress!) I know Valentine's Day has passed but, these polishes seem appropriate for any time of year to me.

Hi guys! I'm so excited to finally share with you the latest from KBShimmer - their Spring 2015 Collection! This collection features twelve beautiful new polishes that'll have you excited for winter to end.

In this new collection, there are seven crellies, four holos, and one creme, all in gorgeous pastel shades that are perfect for spring. The formulas on all of these were generally very easy to work with, and I just love their wide flat brushes for easy application. For all swatches below, I used KBShimmer base and top coat. Let's get started!

China Glaze Road Trip Collection, Part 1: Road Trip Ready

Hey guys! I'm pretty excited about today's post - I was lucky enough to receive the entire China Glaze Road Trip Collection from Live Love Polish! I've divided the collection of twelve polishes into two posts, and today I am happy to show you the "Road Trip Ready" half of the collection, which consists of six beautiful spring shades! (You can see my swatches of the second half of the collection here.)

Out of these six polishes, three contain a subtle rose gold shimmer, and the other three are glossy cremes. As is expected of China Glaze, the formulas were wonderful! The colors are definitely perfect for the upcoming season - who doesn't love pastel shades in the spring? Anyway, let's get into it:

I Scream Nails: Collection Swatches + Review

I am so excited about today's swatches! I Scream Nails is actually group of nail artists based in Australia, who work not only in salons but also paint nails at various events (they actually do some amazing nail art) - and now, they've got their own line of gorgeous polishes! Today I'm showing you their line of six bright, beautiful shades that come in adorable ice cream cone shaped bottles.

I know, I know - I can't get over how cute these are, either. When I first got these in the mail, I figured they were such an exciting novelty item with the bright colors and the funky shape that the polish inside had to be pretty lame, right? WRONG! I was shocked at how impressive these polishes were! Application was a breeze, and these neons applied like any other high quality creme - not to mention, they were all practically opaque in just one coat. I am finding myself completely obsessed with not only the packaging and adorable bottles, but the colors and the formulas as well. Let's take a closer look:

Cupcake Polish January 2015: The Queen Collection Swatches

Wow, it feels like it's been so long since I've reviewed Cupcake Polish! I did miss those fabulous holos! Well, today I've got their new collection to show you, The Queen Collection - it consists of five gorgeous holographic shades inspired the queens of Europe throughout history.

This collection features some beautiful and rich shades that are really fit for royalty! The formulas on these are fabulous - most of them were actually opaque in one coat, which you could definitely get away with in real life, but not under my lightbox lamps! Anyway, let's take a look:

We will start with my favorite of the bunch - Eleanor is a black linear holographic polish with an intense duochrome shimmer that shifts from pink to blue. I absolutely love the shimmery color shift in this polish! It's very present but it doesn't overpower the holo, which is nice. Shown above is two easy coats with top coat.

Elizabeth is a sparkly linear gold holographic polish packed with gold shimmer. Nothing too crazy or unique here, but it's a beautifully elegant shade, and it's definitely classic! (You can't have a royal themed collection without a gold polish, right?) Shown above is two easy coats with top coat.

Catherine is a pinky red linear holographic packed with pink shimmer. Again, nothing too crazy here, but it's a very pretty color and the pink shimmer makes it interesting! Shown above is two easy coats with top coat.

Here's another polish that stole my heart - Victoria is a bright, cool toned purple linear holographic polish with a duochrome shimmer that shifts from pink to gold. Seriously, this polish is gorgeous! Even without the shimmer, this polish would make me drool, but when you add it into the equation, it's to die for. I really do love this purple, and it's unlike any polish I have! Shown above is two easy coats with top coat.

And last cut certainly not least we have Maria, a bright royal blue linear holographic polish filled with green shimmer. This is such a pretty shade of blue, and I love the added green shimmer for a totally unique touch. Shown above is two easy coats with top coat.

These polishes are available beginning today on the Cupcake Polish website for $13 USD each, or $60 USD for the entire collection. My top picks are Eleanor, Victoria, and Maria.

Which ones do you like best? I'd love to know!

Femme Fatale Cosmetics: New Releases for 2015

Hello guys! I've got some exciting polishes to show you today, from the very well known Australian brand, Femme Fatale Cosmetics. If you haven't heard of them, you're missing out - Femme Fatale is known not only for their beautiful eyeshadows, but also their stunning nail polish line. Today I have swatches of their latest release, which consists of seven new shades for 2015.

I would also like to note that I recently made a small change in my photography and lighting - hopefully it's not too different, but I would like to showcase the polishes in a brighter setting so you can see them more clearly! Let me know your thoughts.

This was my first time trying Femme Fatale polishes. All of these shades had a jelly finish, and they're packed with glitter, so careful application is a must. My photos show two thick coats of each polish, but it might be easier to use three thin coats to apply polishes from this collection. The colors are just stunning though, so it's definitely worth the tricky application! I've included close-up shots of all the shades, so you can really see the glitters. Let's take a look:

First off is probably my favorite out of the bunch, In His House He Waits Dreaming, which is a unique brownish jelly packed with teal holo glitters and shimmer. I've definitely never seen a shade like this, and I didn't expect it to look like this on the nail, but I was stunned with how beautiful it was. This is one of those shades that has an androgynous feel to it, in my opinion - it's just so elegant, but without the usual femininity that polish has! Does that make sense? Well, either way, I'm definitely in love with it! Shown above is two thick coats with top coat.

Here is a close up in the bottle and on the nail. A third coat would probably be more opaque and glitter packed, but I loved it too much the way it was!

Next we have Stand in the Clouds, a greenish blue jelly packed with holographic green glitters and a golden shimmer. Another stunning color! This one feels almost tropical, like the kind of polish you'd wear to an island on vacation. I'm sure it has something to do with how bright and colorful it is! Shown above is two thick coats with top coat.

Here is a close up in the bottle and on the nail. Again, a third coat would make this shade more opaque and glittery, but I love the sheer jelly finish so much.

All Sanity is Lost is an incredible teal jelly that's filled with turquoise holo glitters, glitter shards, and a bright purple shimmer. This is another unique and eye catching color, and I just love the name in combination with the shards of glitter. This is another definite favorite of mine. Shown above is two thick coats with top coat.

Here is a close up in the bottle and on the nail. What a beautiful explosion of glitter! I think I'm obsessed.

Alone in the Darkness is a dark teal jelly filled with holographic microglitters and a rich purple blue shimmer. This is such a gorgeous winter shade! (I know I'm starting to gush, but I really feel like these colors are so beautiful. I can't believe it's taken me this long to try Femme Fatale.) Shown above is two thick coats with top coat.

Here is a close up in the bottle and on the nail. There is so much depth to this shade, and I think a third coat would make it even deeper.

Under the Waters is a bluish purple with a turquoise duochrome shift. This was probably the most opaque of the bunch, but it still had that glossy jelly-like finish. I think it's just beautiful, and I love the color shift in the light. Shown above is two coats with top coat.

Here is a close up in the bottle and on the nail.

Touch of Madness is a fuchsia jelly packed with pink and purple holoraphic microglitters. This shade isn't completely unique, but it's gorgeous nonetheless! A color like this is great for all year long, and it's got a beautiful shimmer. Shown above is two thick coats with top coat.

Here is a close up in the bottle and on the nail.

Finally, we have Brain Link, a hot pink jelly packed with iridescent fuchsia flakes. This is definitely a unique shade to my collection, but the color is a bit eye searing for me! I think this polish would actually look beautiful layered over a darker color, since the flakes are so bright. Shown above is two thick coats with top coat.

Here is a close up in the bottle and on the nail. I do love that glitter!

Overall, I really enjoyed my first experience with Femme Fatale. Even though the polishes are a little thick on application, the beautiful color combinations more than make up for any difficulty! I am definitely in love with some of these shades - I just think they're so deep and beautiful. Favorites are In His House He Waits Dreaming, Stand in the Clouds, and All Sanity is Lost, but I really liked them all!

These polishes are available from Femme Fatale Cosmetics, although their presale for these shades is currently closed. You can check back on their presale page for more information, or follow them on Facebook to stay updated on stocking information.

Femme Fatale Cosmetics also happens to be an international stockist which carries over 40 other brands, so it's worth shopping around! Femme Fatale polishes are also available at other international retailers (you can see those listed at the bottom of the Femme Fatale website.)

What do you think of these shades? Do you own any Femme Fatale polishes or makeup products? I would love to know your favorites!

Il Etait Un Vernis: License to Polish Collection Swatches

Hi guys! I'm finally back in the groove of swatching (thankfully my nails grew back pretty quickly!) and I'm very excited about today's review - I've got the latest collection from popular indie Il Etait Un Vernis! This French brand exploded onto the scene with their debut collection, and now they're releasing the gorgeous "License to Polish" collection, which consists of five beautiful shades that you can rock anytime of year.

Let me start off by gushing about the packaging - besides the adorable logo, these polishes came in the cutest little bag, along with a little "License to Polish" button! I am always impressed by companies that take special care and effort in packaging their products, and this brand really wowed me. The formulas on all of these were incredible - most of them were pretty much opaque in just one coat, and application was smooth and easy. Well, let's get started!

Juggling Glass Balls is actually different from the rest of the polishes in this collection in that it's sheer enough to be worn as a glitter topper over another shade. It's a silver holographic microglitter in a clear base, packed with silver flakies. I thought it was just so gorgeous and delicate that I wanted to show it on its own, and I am not disappointed with the result. It's beautiful! Perfect formula. Shown above is three thin coats with top coat.

We Want You For NPA Army is a beautiful warm forest green holographic shade featuring tiny gold flakies. This shade seriously wowed me, and I'm not usually a huge fan of green polishes. I really am in love! The added gold flakies just bring this polish to another level. Shown above is two coats plus top coat, but it was almost opaque in just one.

Drop Dead Gorgeous is a blackened gold holographic polish that looks brown in some lighting, and gold in others. This is another shade that I normally wouldn't reach for, but I practically drooled over this polish! It seriously is drop dead gorgeous. (Am I gushing? I'm totally gushing. I can't help myself!) Shown above is two coats with top coat, but it was opaque in just one.

In Teal We Trust is a stunning rich teal holographic shade with flashes of blue shimmer and flakies. Now this is a color that I was excited for, and I definitely wasn't disappointed! It's so deep and pretty, and definitely a color that I would wear all year. Shown above is two coats and top coat, but again - it's pretty much opaque in just one coat.

And finally, we have Something to Remember, a pale mauve holographic with flashes of bright fuchsia shimmer. This is one of those shades that you could wear in the office, but its so multi-faceted! The fuchsia shimmer has an almost green duochrome effect to it, which totally surprised me when I applied it. I didn't expect this shade to have so much to it! Shown above is two easy coats with top coat.

Overall, I think it's safe to say I'm pretty much in love with these polishes. Everything about them impressed me - from the incredible formulas, to the beautiful colors, to the great packaging! I would pick favorites but I honestly love them all and could see myself wearing every single one all year long.

These polishes are available from Il Etait Un Vernis for €12.90 EUR each, which is currently about $14.95 USD, or €59.90 EUR for the entire collection, which is currently about $69.44 USD. Il Etait Un Vernis is based in France, so international customers might want to read up on their shipping policy.

What do you think of these shades? Do you own any polishes from Il Etait Un Vernis?

Color Club Ticket To Paradise Collection

If you're tired of the cold winter weather and gray skies here in (most of) the US, then you'll love today's blog post - I've got the new Color Club Ticket To Paradise Collection to show you from HB Beauty Bar! This collection features seven colorful shades that will have you thinking you're in the tropics.

Now, most of you know I don't have much experience with Color Club, but I'm definitely intrigued by the fact that they're releasing such bright colors so early in the year! Although I'll admit, I think most of these will actually be really nice for spring, and most of them have a really unique shimmer. Anyway, the formula these were very jelly-like, even though most of them achieved full opacity in just two coats. You'll see - they're very squishy! Anyway, let's get into it:

Bermuda Beaches is a very soft, pastel pink with a vibrant pink shimmer. The added shimmer really brings this polish to another level, and I definitely didn't expect it! Like I said above, this shade will be great for spring. Shown above is two coats with top coat.

Sea-ing Blue is a soft aqua with a bright turquoise shimmer throughout. Again, the shimmer really makes this shade pop, and I absolutely love this shade. Shown above is two coats with top coat.

The Islands is a soft lime green shade with a hint of bright green shimmer. The shimmer in this was much less pronounced than the rest of the shades, but I love the subtle sparkle. This color is gorgeous as well, another perfect spring polish. Unlike the other shades, this polish was extremely sheer, and required four coats (and top coat) for the photo above. It didn't feel too thick on my nails though!

All Inclusive is a banana yellow that has just the slightest green undertone. This shade didn't have any shimmer that I could see, which sets it apart from the collection. I think this color will come in handy for nail art. Shown above is two coats with top coat.

Tiny Umbrella is a peach shade with a vibrant orange shimmer. Although this isn't a shade I would normally reach for, I found myself absolutely in love with this color! It's subtle enough to be appropriate for the office, but it's also bright and pretty. Plus, that shimmer is so enchanting! Shown above is two coats with top coat.

Next we have With the Cabana Boy, a bright orange polish with a bright orange shimmer throughout. This color doesn't feel like it belongs in the collection, since it's rather bold, but the shimmer ties it together nicely. I don't know if I'd wear it as a full manicure, but it seems useful for nail art. The formula on this one was especially smooth! Shown above is two easy coats with top coat.

And finally, we have Frozen Daiquiri, a bright candy apple red creme. This one didn't have the jelly-like formula of the others, nor did it feature a shimmer, and it was incredibly easy to apply. I was super impressed with this shade, and I will definitely be adding it to my list of go-to red polishes. Shown above is just ONE coat with top coat.

Overall, there are some really great colors in this collection. My top picks are Sea-ing Blue, The Islands, Tiny Umbrella, and Frozen Daiquiri. These shades are available from HB Beauty Bar for just $4.95 USD each. And don't forget, you can use the code POLISHCHALLENGE at checkout for 15% off your order.

What do you think of these shades?

NCLA This Party Never Ends Swatch + Nail Art

Happy Monday! I had a lot of fun over the weekend trying out some serious glitter placement - part of me is screaming "never again!" - with NCLA This Party Never Ends.

This glitter has a seriously awesome color combination. Before I start showing you the fun stuff, I have a simple swatch for those of you who aren't interested in spending an hour placing glitter on one nail, haha!

Here's NCLA This Party Never Ends over China Glaze Lotus Begin, with one coat of top coat. I really had trouble deciding what color to layer this beauty over, and I landed on a lavender because I think the colors compliment each other nicely. The formula of this glitter is very thick, but it's easy to apply normally, like any other polish. You might want to dab it on in a few spots to keep parts of your nail from looking bare. Anyway, now for the nail art:

Whew, this was a time consuming look! I started off by painting each of my nails a different color. from right to left: Color Club Factory Girl, Cirque Carpe Diem, Cirque Memento Mori, and I Scream Nails Bubblegum Bang. Then, I taped off triangles on my outer two nails and painted on Memento Mori and Factory Girl. On my detail nail, I carefully placed each glitter with a toothpick. I did the same on my middle finger, then covered another section with Memento Mori. I topped everything off with matte top coat.

I am honestly stunned by how much time that one nail took. I couldn't even imagine doing it to all of my nails! And I didn't even place them to perfectly align - I think that part comes with more practice (which I never want to do! Haha.)

Despite the difficulty, I think that one nail came out looking absolutely awesome and it makes me curious about trying it with different glitters (perhaps bigger glitters next time, so there is less work!)

Here are the polishes I used for this nail art look (yes, I mislabeled the first polish but I didn't save the file! Sorry!). This Party Never Ends is available from NCLA for $18 USD.

What do you think of glitter placement?
