Color Club Ticket To Paradise Collection

If you're tired of the cold winter weather and gray skies here in (most of) the US, then you'll love today's blog post - I've got the new Color Club Ticket To Paradise Collection to show you from HB Beauty Bar! This collection features seven colorful shades that will have you thinking you're in the tropics.

Now, most of you know I don't have much experience with Color Club, but I'm definitely intrigued by the fact that they're releasing such bright colors so early in the year! Although I'll admit, I think most of these will actually be really nice for spring, and most of them have a really unique shimmer. Anyway, the formula these were very jelly-like, even though most of them achieved full opacity in just two coats. You'll see - they're very squishy! Anyway, let's get into it:

Bermuda Beaches is a very soft, pastel pink with a vibrant pink shimmer. The added shimmer really brings this polish to another level, and I definitely didn't expect it! Like I said above, this shade will be great for spring. Shown above is two coats with top coat.

Sea-ing Blue is a soft aqua with a bright turquoise shimmer throughout. Again, the shimmer really makes this shade pop, and I absolutely love this shade. Shown above is two coats with top coat.

The Islands is a soft lime green shade with a hint of bright green shimmer. The shimmer in this was much less pronounced than the rest of the shades, but I love the subtle sparkle. This color is gorgeous as well, another perfect spring polish. Unlike the other shades, this polish was extremely sheer, and required four coats (and top coat) for the photo above. It didn't feel too thick on my nails though!

All Inclusive is a banana yellow that has just the slightest green undertone. This shade didn't have any shimmer that I could see, which sets it apart from the collection. I think this color will come in handy for nail art. Shown above is two coats with top coat.

Tiny Umbrella is a peach shade with a vibrant orange shimmer. Although this isn't a shade I would normally reach for, I found myself absolutely in love with this color! It's subtle enough to be appropriate for the office, but it's also bright and pretty. Plus, that shimmer is so enchanting! Shown above is two coats with top coat.

Next we have With the Cabana Boy, a bright orange polish with a bright orange shimmer throughout. This color doesn't feel like it belongs in the collection, since it's rather bold, but the shimmer ties it together nicely. I don't know if I'd wear it as a full manicure, but it seems useful for nail art. The formula on this one was especially smooth! Shown above is two easy coats with top coat.

And finally, we have Frozen Daiquiri, a bright candy apple red creme. This one didn't have the jelly-like formula of the others, nor did it feature a shimmer, and it was incredibly easy to apply. I was super impressed with this shade, and I will definitely be adding it to my list of go-to red polishes. Shown above is just ONE coat with top coat.

Overall, there are some really great colors in this collection. My top picks are Sea-ing Blue, The Islands, Tiny Umbrella, and Frozen Daiquiri. These shades are available from HB Beauty Bar for just $4.95 USD each. And don't forget, you can use the code POLISHCHALLENGE at checkout for 15% off your order.

What do you think of these shades?

I Love Nail Polish Fall 2014 Collection Part 2: Holographic Shimmers

Now that September has finally started, I can get into the groove of posting Fall nail polishes (to go along with my favorite season!) You probably remember the first half of my I Love Nail Polish Fall 2014 Collection review, and today I've got the second half for you!

The first half of the collection (here) consisted of five multichromes and a simple holographic polish. Well, this half is a bit more complicated - all of these polishes are intense shimmers with a linear holographic finish, as well as some gorgeous flakes! I love them all, and I was thrilled with the formulas - whereas the multichromes took a bit to get used to, these ones were flawless and easy to apply. Let's have a look at them:

Fall Semester is a beautiful dark teal with a linear holographic shimmer. This one is just gorgeous, and probably my favorite of the bunch. Formula was impeccable, and for those of you with short nails, you could probably get away with just one coat. Shown above is two easy coats and top coat.

Homecoming is a gorgeous eggplant purple with a linear holographic shimmer, and incredible gold flakes for added sparkle. Another stunner! And can we talk about how amazing these colors are for Fall? Shown above is two easy coats with top coat.

Black Orchid is another beautiful dark color, a deep magenta with a linear holographic shimmer and some extra sparkle. I am just going to keep gushing - like the other two, this one applied flawlessly and looks gorgeous on the nails! I thought this one might stain, because reds tend to do that, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that there was absolutely no staining. Shown above is two easy coats with top coat.

This collection also features three lighter/brighter colors that are also Fall appropriate - here's Atomic Sherbet, a super bright holographic orange with golden flakes. Although this color is bright, it totally reminds me of pumpkins and falling leaves! This polish was slightly more jelly-like than the others, so I applied an extra coat for opacity. Shown above is three thin coats with top coat.

Iconic is a gorgeous champagne gold with a linear holographic shimmer - this one was probably the most holographic, and it's stunning. I thought it might not work against my skin tone, but I found myself loving it. It's classy and elegant, not to mention super sparkly! This polish could probably be opaque in two, but I added a third coat for more depth, as well as top coat.

Last but certainly not least, we have Champagne Blush, an incredible rosy pink with a linear holographic shimmer and gold flakes. This one was also super holographic, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the hue looked nice on my skin tone! This is definitely a great color to wear if you don't want to rock dark shades this season, but still want that autumn feel. Shown above is three thin coats and top coat, but again, it could be opaque in two.

As with the other half of this collection, I have to say, I'm totally in love. These polishes are both gorgeous and totally unique, and I'm happy to say that I don't have anything like these in my collection. The added touch of the flakes in each polish make them unique!

These polishes will be available at the I Love NailPolish website for $10-$12.50 USD each, or $120 for the full collection. They sell out quickly, so be sure to follow I Love Nail Polish on Facebook and Twitter to find out when they will be restocking!

What do you think of these polishes? Which is your favorite?

Mattified Glitter Gradient Nail Art

Hi guys, today I have a super quick glitter gradient to show you using Shimmer Polish.

I used a base of KBShimmer My Life's Porpoise, a soft gray, and then dabbed on Shimmer Jennifer. Then, I topped it all off with OPI matte top coat.

I absolutely love this glitter paired with gray. I think the subtle colors really look gorgeous against a neutral color, and mattifying all of it just intensifies that! I paired it with a cute midi ring I bought recently - I think I am starting to love this trend!

Here are the colors I used. I wish I had taken a bottle shot of Jennifer, it's such a pretty combination of glitters!

You can buy Shimmer Polish on their website, or email them for a custom polish order. What do you think of this simple gradient?

Shimmer Polish, PMTG, and a Midi Ring Skittlette!

So, I recently fell in love with the new craze of midi rings. When I bought myself one from Forever 21, I figured I should do a matching manicure!

I started with PolishMeToGo Liberty on my outer two nails (fun fact - this polish glows in the dark!), Essie Good as Gold on my middle finger, and OPI AmazON... AmazOFF on my ring finger. Then, with Shimmer Polish Jasmine, I made a gradient on my outer two nails and painted a light coat on my ring finger. Finally, I stamped BM410 with Julep Cleopatra.

I love how this stamp matched my ring perfectly! And the polishes work beautifully together. I really love this combination.

The gradients were surprisingly easy to make - I might have to do glitter gradients more often!

Here are the polishes I used.

You can buy PolishMeToGo at their online store, and Shimmer Polish on their website. What do you think of this manicure?

Shimmer Cristina Skittlette

Hi guys! I have been lacking nail inspiration lately, and I've just been too busy to swatch, so I am sorry I haven't posted in a few days! But today I was looking at my untrieds and I found Shimmer Cristina, and I decided to do an inspired skittlette.

I started with a base of OPI AmazON...AmazOFF on the first two nails, then topped them off with Shimmer Cristina. For the ring finger, I painted on China Glaze At Vase Value and stamped a chevron pattern with OPI 4 in the Morning. Then, on my pinky nail, I painted on OPI Casino Royale. Pretty simple, right?

I love the depth of this glitter so I took a bottle shot to show you all the different colors. Isn't it so pretty?

I love a glitter with a good formula, and this one was no exception. It is quite sheer though, so I would recommend a similar base color. I also think this glitter would look great with a dark gray or black base color.

Here's something I haven't done in a while! I miss taking bottle shots so you can all have a quick and easy guide on what colors I used for my nail art, so I decided to bring it back. Don't these polishes look so good together? (Also, I noticed I spelled "Cristina" wrong in the photo, haha, but I didn't save the file, so you'll all just have to deal!)

You can purchase Cristina via email on the Shimmer Polish website, or on Etsy for $12 USD each. You can also contact them for a custom polish (!) for $15 USD. Make sure to follow them on Facebook for news and updates.

Shimmer Polish Swatches: Part 1

Who doesn't love a good sparkly glitter polish? Well, I have 14 gorgeous polishes by Shimmer  to show you over the next few days. Known for their super sparkly glitter toppers, Shimmer Polish offers a huge variety of colors in beautiful combinations. These polishes can be worn alone, but I chose to layer them over similar colors. I grouped the polishes into 3 different "categories" - today I have four swatches to show you, all in similar color groups.

First up is Karen, a gorgeous glitter topper packed with pink and purple hexes of various sizes. (Disclaimer - I am going to have some trouble describing these polishes, haha! They are all so packed with so many colors. We will let the photos do the talking.) I love this combo together! The colors of the glitter match so well with the base color. Shown above is two coats over OPI I'm Feeling Sashy, and top coat.

Here is a closeup on the nail and in the bottle.

Nichole is a super patriotic glitter topper filled with red, silver, and blue glitters in various sizes. This polish is perfect for the Fourth of July! I chose to pair it over purple to show off the different colors, but it would look beautiful over blue or white as well. Shown above is two coats over OPI You're Such A Budapest, and top coat.

Look at that closeup! I love the color combination in this polish.

Next up is Wendy, a festive glitter filled with turquoise, purple and orange glitters. This polish feels like a party in a bottle! Shown is two coats over China Glaze Tart-y for the Party, and top coat.

Here is the closeup on the nail and in the bottle.

And last but certainly not least, we have Kim, a glitter top coat filled with blue, purple, and silver glitters. As soon as I saw this polish in the bottle, I knew it would look stunning over a dark color. Shown is two coats over OPI Miss You-Niverse, and top coat.

Here is the closeup on the nail and in the bottle.

Overall, I'm really enjoying these polishes so far! They are perfect for any glitter lover, or for a night out. I think Nichole is my favorite of these four, but Kim comes in close second!

You can purchase any of these polishes via email on the Shimmer Polish website, or on Etsy for $12 USD each. You can also contact them for a custom polish (!) for $15 USD. Make sure to follow them on Facebook for news and updates.

Which of these polishes do you like best? Do you have any Shimmer Polishes?
