Renaissance Cosmetics Spring 2015 Collection Swatches + Review

- PRESS SAMPLE -

Hi guys! Hope your week is going well so far. Today I'm sharing swatches from the new spring 2015 collection by Renaissance Cosmetics. They are temporarily closing up shop at the end of the month, so make sure you pick up your favorite shades before they sell out!

Anyway, the spring collection consists of eight unique shades:

Renaissance Cosmetics: Sweet & Sassy Duo Swatches + Review

Hi guys! I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day. I have a lovely polish duo to share with you today from Renaissance Cosmetics; these polishes were released for Valentine's Day but I personally think they're beautiful to wear year round.

Renaissance Cosmetics Anniversary Collection Swatches + Review

Hello all! It's pretty snowy here in New Jersey today (and we are expecting the blizzard of the century!) so I'll probably be spending a lot of time painting my nails and drinking hot chocolate! I have some gorgeous polishes to show you from Renaissance Cosmetics - their Anniversary Collection actually came out a couple of months ago, but they're being restocked this week so I figured today is perfect for sharing my swatches!

Like I said, this collection was released at the same time as the Modern Vamp Collection that I reviewed last month, but a lot of these colors seem perfect for spring! And you'll probably remember how much I love the unique combinations of Renaissance polishes - this collection is no exception. It consists of three crellies, one full coverage jelly and two microglitters, all featuring the wide flat brush that I adore. Let's take a look:

Renaissance Cosmetics: The Modern Vamp Collection Swatches + Review

Hi guys, today I have for you some amazing new polishes from Renaissance Cosmetics. They've actually released two new collections this fall/winter, and both of them are incredible - I'll be sharing the Anniversary Collection soon. But for today, we're looking at The Modern Vamp Collection, a collection of six gorgeous and unique polishes inspired by vampires from recent television shows and films. (And I even have a discount code to share with you! Read on for more information.)

I love vampire movies and TV shows, so I was already in love with this collection before I even tried it. But I do think that this collection will be great for people who don't know any of the references as well because the polishes are pretty gorgeous.

As I've come to expect from Renaissance Cosmetics, these polishes are unlike anything I have in my collection. Meghan does an incredible job of combining colors and finishes to create a completely new product. Anyway, all of the formulas on these polishes are fabulous and they feature the wide, flat brush that I love for easy application. As I always say with Renaissance, I think the true beauty of these polishes can be seen in the macro shots, so you'll see close ups of each polish in today's post. Let's get started, shall we?

Footprints in the Snow is a white crelly, almost opaque with one coat (almost all of the colors were practically opaque in one coat, much like creme finishes, but I'm going to refer to them as crellies because they include the added glitters) that features black, red, and blue microglitters as well as a fuchsia and gold shimmer. Seriously, have you ever seen a white crelly like this?! It really is delicate and beautiful like snow. This polish was inspired by Eli from the film Let the Right One In. I haven't seen it, but this gorgeous polish is making me want to! Shown above is two easy coats and top coat.

Here is a close up in the bottle and on the nail. You can really see all the variations in glitter when you look up close. What a complex polish!

Next we have An Eternal Doll, a creamy nude crelly packed with red and gold glitters in various sizes, as well as a gold shimmer. Again, this was practically a one coater, but the true glitter depth comes from the second coat. This polish was inspired by Claudia from Interview With A Vampire. Again, I haven't seen this film, but this polish is so warm and beautiful! It almost has a Christmassy vibe to it, and I'm definitely considering wearing it for the holiday! Shown above is two coats with top coat.

Here is a closeup in the bottle and on the nail. I made the mistake of using a really thin top coat (by Essie) for these swatches, and it didn't do a great job of smoothing out the glitters in this collection. I would recommend using a nice thick top coat like Seche Vite or KBShimmer for these polishes to smooth them out easily!

Next we have Cursed, a dusty medium blue packed with red hexes and iridescent flakes, as well as an intense fuchsia shimmer. Seriously, have you ever seen a shade like this?! It's absolutely beautiful and so unique. This polish is inspired by Aidan from Being Human, which is probably one of my favorite television shows of all time, and it captures him perfectly! Again, this polish was practically a one coater, but you're looking at two coats with top coat.

Here is a closeup in the bottle and on the nail. I think the combination of red and blue is so gorgeous here, and a combination I wouldn't expect to see in a polish.

Next up is Blood/Lust, a super sparkly red jelly polish packed with red and gold shimmer. This is the closest that Renaissance will probably be to a "classic" polish, but I do think that colors like this are just great to have in my collection for a classy and elegant look. Again, I could definitely see this being a Christmas polish! This polish was inspired by vampire Willow from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and it's a great representation of her character. Shown above is two coats with top coat, but you might want to add a third coat for deeper color and more sparkle.

I don't think my swatch photo accurately shows off the shimmer in this polish, but you can see how wild it is in the bottle shot! Seriously, this polish shimmered so beautifully on the nail!

Out of the Darkness is a black crelly with a seriously strong linear holo finish, as well as blue and fuchsia flakes. I know I'm repeating myself here, but I have never seen a polish like this - it's absolutely gorgeous, and I don't think photos do it justice. The pink and blue flakes shimmer beautifully, even though the black base is completely opaque, and the holographic finish just sparkles! This polish is inspired by Angel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and it represents his struggle with good and evil. Personally, I think this polish looks totally badass! It makes me want to rock a leather jacket and some spiky boots. Shown above is two coats with top coat.

Seriously, can we drool now?! Here is a photo in the bottle and on the nail - this polish clearly loves to pick up light, and my camera almost had a meltdown trying to capture the holographic finish.

Last but definitely not least, we have Sex, Death, & Rock 'n' Roll. I honestly wasn't even sure how to describe this incredibly unique polish - gray? gold? blue? - so I checked out Meghan's review, and decided it's a black base packed with gold shimmer and a strong linear holo, as well as holographic hex glitters. Can we just take a second to look at the bottle in the above photo? It seriously looks like the galaxy exploded! The polish itself was practically opaque in one coat, but I just had to add a second for more depth. This polish is inspired by Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer (is anyone else seeing a theme here? I think it's safe to say Meghan loves Buffy!), and again, I think is describes him perfectly. Shown above is two coats with top coat.

Here is a closeup in the bottle and on the nail. Incredible!

Overall, I'm totally in love with this collection. I honestly couldn't pick a favorite - even the polishes that I didn't understand the references to are amazing! I also want to point out that these polishes could be perfect for any male polish lover, especially the last two - even the inclusion of sparkle and holo doesn't make them distinctly feminine, and I love that, since they are inspired by male characters. (And hey, Oz from Buffy wore nail polish, and he was pretty badass!)

This collection is available from Renaissance Cosmetics for $9.50 USD each or $51.30 USD for the entire collection. Make sure you use the code "nailpolishchallenge15" for 15% off your order of $10 or more! I believe some of these colors are currently out of stock (and they sell out pretty quickly in general), so you'll want to follow Renaissance on Facebook for restock information.

What do you think of this collection? Do you recognize any of the vamps?

Renaissance Cosmetics Fall 2014 Microglitters: Swatches and Review

It's finally the weekend, which means it's time to relax and unwind (and play with more new autumn nail polishes!) Anyway, today I have three more polishes from Renaissance Cosmetics to show you. Last week, I showed you the fall 2014 shimmers, and today I have three gorgeous fall microglitters to share. (And, I have a discount code to share with you too! Read on to see it.)

I'm calling these fall microglitters because they are new fall releases, but I feel like these can be worn year round. They are so pretty and packed with sparkle - you can even see some of that shimmer in the blurred bottles in the above photo. The formulas are so easy to work with, and those of you with shorter nails will achieve full opacity in just two coats - but I added a third for all my swatches, just for the closeups! Anyway, let's take an individual look:

Wanderlust is a gorgeous full coverage blue microglitter featuring a ton of different colored particles, most prominently blue, turquoise, green, and gold. I totally felt like a mermaid with this polish on! Wearing it on its own gives the polish more depth, but it can also be layered over a blue or black. Shown above is three easy coats with top coat to smooth out the slightly gritty finish.

Here is a closeup in the bottle and on the nail. I'm telling you, this is actually the perfect mermaid polish! I could wear it forever.

Phoebe is a full coverage purple microglitter featuring a ton of different colored particles, most notably purple, pink, and gold (with a hint of blue!). This is another gorgeous color with so much depth. Again, this could be layered over purple or black, but I wanted to wear it on its own - shown above is three coats and top coat.

You can really see all the holographic glitters in this closeup in the bottle and on the nail. Radiant orchid, anyone??

And last but definitely not least, we have Hera, a vampy full coverage red microglitter featuring a ton of different colored particles, most notably bright red, fuchsia, and darker red. Wow, I didn't expect to like this one as much as I do! It is the perfect color for fall and winter, and I love how fiery it looks on my nails. The bright red glitter particles really stand out beautifully. This polish can be layered over a dark red or black, but I wore it alone. Shown above is three easy coats with top coat.

Here is a closeup in the bottle and on the nail. I think I am in love!

Overall, I am so impressed by these colors (no surprise there!) I'm not generally a huge fan of microglitters, but I found myself drooling over these particular combinations (and wanting to do some nail art with them!) Again, the formula was incredibly easy to work with - I found that it was best to wait for the polish to dry between layers, to avoid clumpiness. And as is usual for Renaissance, these combos are just beautiful and unique.

All of these polishes are available at the Renaissance Cosmetics online shop for $9.50 USD each. And, Meghan was so generous to offer a 15% discount to my readers - just use the code nailpolishchallenge15 at checkout!

Renaissance Cosmetics Fall 2014 Shimmers: Swatches and Review

Hello guys! Today I've got a few new polishes from the amazing indie brand Renaissance Cosmetics. You may recall my slight obsession with their unique polishes and amazing formula - well, today is no different! I will be reviewing three shimmer polishes that were recently released as part of the ongoing Shimmer collection. And the creator of these fine polishes, Meghan (yes, that Meghan!) has generously offered a discount code to my followers. Read on to see it!

As I mentioned, these three polishes are shimmers, so they're packed with a ton of sparkle to add that extra little something to the color. And of course, in classic Renaissance style, the color combinations are so unique! I'm going to be sharing macro shots of these polishes too, because a regular photo just won't cut it for these beauties.

A note about the formulas - these polishes were slightly thick, but very easy to work with, and all feature a wide, flat brush for ease of application. All of these polishes dry to a slightly matte finish, which actually looks gorgeous, but I ended up topcoatting all of my swatches.

Let's take a closer look:

Three Sisters is a bright, almost pink-leaning red polish that's packed with a golden shimmer. This one is amazing - such a classic color, but with an exciting twist. I love how this polish shifts in different lighting - sometimes, it has a pinkish tint, and other times, it looks super red. Shown above is two coats with top coat.

Here is a closeup in the bottle and on the nail. Can you believe all that glorious shimmer?!

Portland is described as a muted chartreuse with a rose gold and aqua shimmer. Talk about unique! Normally, I don't find myself gravitating towards this shade of green, but the added level of shimmer brings another dimension to the polish. It definitely brings to mind grasses and trees. Shown above is two coats with top coat.

Here is a closeup in the bottle and on the nail. You can see how the two different shimmers come together to create such a fascinating color!

I just had to save my favorite for last. This absolutely stunning royal purple is called Kensington, and it features a bright copper shimmer. Can we obsess over this polish for just a minute?! I have never seen a color like this! The purple color itself is just perfect, and the added copper shimmer gives the polish such insane depth. I am in love! It also looks incredible without top coat - I wish I had gotten a photo of it with the slightly matte finish. Shown above is two coats and top coat.

Here is a closeup in the bottle and on the nail. Need I say more?! Just gorgeous.

Overall, it's pretty easy to see that I'm loving these colors. Renaissance is just one of those brands that understands how a polish should look and feel - probably in large part due to the fact that Meghan is a blogger herself!

All of these polishes are available at the Renaissance Cosmetics online shop for $9.50 USD each. And, Meghan was so generous to offer a 15% discount to my readers - just use the code nailpolishchallenge15 at checkout!

Renaissance Custom Lacquer: Wunderkammer Collection Swatches

Hi all, today I have a review for you that I am very excited about - the new collection from Renaissance Custom Lacquer, called the Wunderkammer Collection. As soon as I saw these beauties, I really fell in love. I think the true magic of these polishes can be seen in the macros, so this post is going to be a little photo heavy!

This collection consists of five polishes, three of which are glitter toppers. They all offer something completely unique and I don't think I have any polishes like them in my collection. Bear in mind that I am posing with mini bottles, but the polishes are only available in full size (15mL) bottles. I started taking my photos holding top coat, but I just had to show off the polishes with the bottles, even though they were mini bottles (which I find difficult to hold), so please excuse the slightly different photos today ;)

Let's start with a surprise favorite of mine, Emerald Envy. It is a full coverage green glitter polish packed with gold and scattered holographic shimmer, as well as some holographic microglitters. When I first saw photos of this polish, I figured it was just like any other green. But this one definitely came alive on the nail! It reminds me of grass in the spring on a sunny day. Shown above is two coats and top coat.

Here is a closeup in the bottle and on the nail. I'm telling you, these polishes just look magical up close!

Gilded Pleasure is a glitter topper featuring gold, copper, and rose microglitters in a gold shimmer base. It also has sparse light blue satin square glitters. This polish is truly elegant! I decided to pair it with a nude base to show off the colors of the glitter, but I think it would also look stunning with a dark base color. Shown above is one coat over Essie Spin The Bottle.

Here is the macro shot in the bottle and a close up of the nail. Doesn't this color just look so classy? I decided to skip the top coat because I loved the slightly matte finish, but if you want a glossier look, feel free to add top coat.

Curio/Curiousity is a glitter topper packed with satin black and white glitters in various shapes and sizes, and full of holographic shimmer. I know I am gushing over this collection, but I really loved this one. Black and white glitters are always popular, but this one has a gorgeous holographic rainbow shimmer to really pack a punch. And, I didn't have any trouble getting the larger glitters onto the nail (but then again, I was working with a mini bottle, so there was really no sinking at all.) Shown above is one coat over KBShimmer My Life's Porpoise, and top coat.

Here is a close up in the bottle and on the nail. You can also get a glimpse of the iridescent shards in the polish!

Porcelain Dream is a delicate glitter topper featuring satin white glitters in various shapes and sizes, as well as holographic gold glitters and tiny iridescent flakes. This polish was stunning in the bottle, and I think it translated beautifully on the nails. It reminds me of weddings! Shown above is one coat over KBShimmer A Touch of Glass, and top coat.

Here is a close up in the bottle and on the nail. I could wear this one every day!

And finally, we have Enamoured, a dark purple full coverage shimmer polish packed with a scattered holographic shimmer and iridescent flakes. For any purple lover, this polish is a must! Since it features the iridescent shards, it did require top coat for smoothing out, but I just love the depth that the glossy finish gives! Shown above is two coats with top coat.

Here is a close up in the bottle and on the nail. For some reason, this one looked a bit lighter in the bottle, but I love the color on my nails.

Overall, I think it's pretty obvious that I'm in love with this collection. I think Renaissance has been nailing it with stunning and unique color combinations lately. My top picks are Emerald Envy and Porcelain Dream.

These polishes are available on the Renaissance Custom Lacquer online shop for $9.50 USD each (for a full sized 15mL bottle.) The lovely creator of these polishes, Meghan, has generously offered a discount code for my readers! Use the code "nailpolishchallenge15" at checkout for 15% off your entire order! This discount can be used once per person and it expires at midnight on June 4th.

Renaissance Custom Lacquer Swatches and Review

Hi guys! Today I have a few polishes to show you from Renaissance Cosmetics, the brainchild of the amazing blogger, Will Paint Nails For Food. This 3-free line of polishes features beautiful, unique colors in a variety of finishes with fairly easy application. Let's get started with my favorite of the bunch:

Flirt is a purply pink holographic polish packed with large pink holographic hex glitters and smaller holographic hexes. It also has a gorgeous golden shimmer. My photos show a bit pinker than the polish is in real life. Shown above is two coats with top coat.

Here is a close up on the nail and the bottle. I love how unique this polish is - I definitely don't have anything like it, and the holographic shimmer in this polish is gorgeous.

St. Clair is an intense royal blue shimmer polish with a blue/purple duochrome shift. This color is gorgeous! I have two coats on in the above photo with top coat - one coat reached full opacity, but the color got much richer with the second coat.

Here is the close up. I love this polish even more on the nail than in the bottle! Doesn't it look so deep?

Mount Pleasant is a forest green shimmer that could reach opacity in one coat - but I have two coats in the swatch above, for the sake of consistency! This is one of those polishes that I wish I had for Christmas. It's just so rich and pretty.

Here is the polish close up. I see a very slighty duochrome in the bottle but it doesn't show on the nail.

And finally, we have L'Hiver, a really unique light blue polish that has a golden shimmer and pink, black, and gold glitters. This is another polish that is nothing like anything I have - the combination of glitters with the base color is so original and pretty. Shown above is two coats and top coat.

Look at this close up - I love this color. It's hard to tell, but those black and pink glitter look like micro square glitters! Even though this polish represents winter, I can't help thinking it'll be perfect for spring.

Overall, I was really impressed with these polishes. Even though Renaissance Cosmetics is a fairly new brand, they have already made a name for themselves with their variety of unique combinations. I especially love Flirt and L'Hiver.

Renaissance Custom Lacquers are available at their shop here, and you can follow them on Facebook for news and updates. Which of these polishes is your favorite?
