(PS: I got bored of my bottle shot preview pics, so I decided to try out this Wondrously Polished inspired collage image - what do you guys think of it?)
As I mentioned, this collection consists of 12 bright shades in a variety of finishes, all with a glorious spring/summer feel - perfect to wear in hopes of warmer weather! It feels like it's been forever since I've swatched OPI shades, and I missed how easy they were to apply, with their incredible formulas and wide brushes. Anyway, keep reading to see individual swatches!
Lost My Bikini in Molokini is an absolutely gorgeous bright purple creme with cool undertones. I fell in love with this shade as soon as I saw it in the bottle, and it looks even better on my nails! Almost a one coater formula. Shown above is two easy coats with top coat.
Hello Hawaii Ya? is a slightly dusty purple creme with a warm undertone. Another gorgeous shade, and a perfect transitional color from winter to spring, in my opinion. Again, almost a one coater. Shown above is two perfect coats with top coat.
Do You Take Lei Away? is a flawless neutral beige creme. I feel like you can never have too many nude polishes - and OPI always seems to nail them! (No pun intended.) This one matches my skin tone perfectly, and I think it'll be great for the office. Shown above is two easy coats with top coat.
Suzi Shops & Island Hops is an adorable baby pink creme. This one was slightly more sheer than the others, so you're looking at three thin coats with top coat - although you could probably get away with two thicker coats. A perfect spring creme!
Just Lanai-ing Around is a gorgeous mauve creme with a very slight silver shimmer. The shimmer isn't too visible in my photo, but it is more present in person - I think it gives this shade a nice depth. This is another great office appropriate color! Shown above is two easy coats with top coat.
Go With the Lava Flow is a beautiful coral red packed with a golden and pink shimmery glow. I thought this one might be a bit sheer, but I was impressed with the perfect coverage here, and I think the shimmer looks so lovely. Shown above is two easy coats with top coat.
Aloha From OPI is a perfect creamy coral red. I think my photo is showing it a bit more orange than it is in real life, but you can bet that this is just a classic shade! What a great pedicure color for toes in the summer. Shown above is two easy coats with top coat.
Is Mai Tai Crooked? is a glorious pale orange creme. I'm not usually a fan of oranges, but I always seem to love OPI orange cremes, and this one is no exception. It reminds me of sorbet! Shown above is two easy coats with top coat.
Okay, if you're into nail polish, you've probably already heard about this color - Pineapples Have Peelings Too! And I have to be honest, I thought this polish was pretty awful looking as soon as I saw photos of it, and in real life, it just about looks the same. It's a metallic golden yellow shimmer packed with a rainbow of hex glitters in various sizes, creating a strange, lumpy mess. Sorry, OPI, but what were you thinking?! I am not a fan - but I have to admit, I'm happy I have this in my collection to show people when they ask to see my weirdest nail polish. Haha! I'd love to know if anyone actually likes this polish, since I haven't really seen any positive reviews of it yet. Shown above is three coats with top coat, but it's opaque in two - I just wanted to have more depth with the glitters.
That's Hula-rious! is a beautiful minty green creme. I am in love with this color for spring, and I think it applied flawlessly! I think this will be great for nail art. Shown above is two coats with top coat.
My Gecko Does Tricks is a bright green shimmer with a slight golden rose duochrome shift. The light shift makes this polish super pretty and unique, and I just love how bright it is. I feel like this would be great for St. Patrick's Day! Shown above is two careful coats with top coat - this one is a tad streaky, so careful application is a must!
Last but definitely not least, we have my possible favorite of the collection, This Color's Making Waves, a bright shimmery teal with a rich blue duochrome shift and gorgeous copper flakes! You can see the flakes if you look closely on my nails, and especially at he bottom of the bottle, but wow are they beautiful! They add a whole new level of awesome to this polish, and I am definitely obsessed. This color really does remind me of the ocean! I think I will be wearing it all summer. Shown above is two coats without top coat - again, this shade is slightly streaky so careful application is a must. It's actually so shiny on it's own that I forgot to apply top coat in my swatch photo above!
Overall, I think it's safe to say that I'm obsessed with most of this collection. There is that one odd shade, but the rest are pretty enough to make up for it! My top picks are Lost My Bikini in Molokini, Do You Take Lei Away, Just Lanai-ing Around, and This Color's Making Waves.
This collection is available from HB Beauty Bar for $9 USD each, and you can use the code POLISHCHALLENGE at checkout for 15% off your entire order (including other brands)!
What are your top picks for this collection?
Wow, I'm surprised! Looking at the swatches on Tumblr, I absolutely loved Pineapples Have Peelings Too, and just from the pictures it's definitely my favourite of this collection! Maybe it's just because I love glitter polishes, but the I adore golden-yellow shimmer colour, and the rainbow of different sized glitters looks fantastic to me. Definitely one I'd like to get for myself!
ReplyDeleteLOL! See, this is why I love nail polish and blogging. Everyone sees the same polish in a totally different way! I have to admit I'm happy to find that someone likes it, because I felt slightly embarrassed posting that pic!
ReplyDeleteThese look nice.
ReplyDeleteThese colors are amazing for the spring time. That green would be great to do for St.Pattrick's day !!

I'm definitely in the minority, but I love Pineapples Have Peelings Too! It's actually the only polish from this collection that I've bought so far. :P You're right though, positive reviews on it are few and far between! The only blogger I've found who liked it was Carolina from Colores de Carol!
ReplyDeleteI think Pineapples is like The Dress - you're gonna see it one way or another, but nothing in between, ha!
ReplyDeleteGreat review, your swatches are always flawless. All the polishes are very pretty, I actually also like Pineapples Have Peelings Too. My faves are Just Lanai-ing Around, This Color's Making Waves and My Gecko Does Tricks.
ReplyDeleteweirdly, your swatch of pineapples have peelings too is the nicest i saw, which nearly makes me like this color HAHA! but i won't go for it, because no one, really not a single blogger said something good about this one! and I'm not into yellow and/or gold polish and a combination of those two, seems more than weird! :)
ReplyDeletejust one question: how similar are lost my bikini in molokini and do you have this color in stock-holm? because they seem pretty similar...
That collage though <3 I seriously love your swatches of all of these. I'm loving all the colours too, except for maybe Pineapples LOL. What were they thinking?!
ReplyDeleteHi Kelli, I have to agree with you that I'm also getting obsessed with this collection. The more swatches and reviews I see for it, the more I like each polish (except for "Pineapples Have Peelings Too", of course!). I only bought a few of them, however, because by this time in my life of being a nail polish addict, I have so many very very similar colors that I *can't* justify buying yet another pink creme... until some of my older ones dry up, that is! Thanks for the enthusiastic review! <3
ReplyDeleteOh such stunning swatches! I love this collection, minus the pineapple. Yeah, not a fan of that one either.
ReplyDeletenice swatches and collection!
ReplyDeleteLove the swatches. I have hundreds of polishes but I just have to get "This Color's Making Waves." Thanks for the coupon as well. My nails are short like yours and I have trouble sometimes keeping the polish off the tips of the finger. What's your secret? (because your nails look so perfect)
