Christmas Manicure!

My first post in a LONG time - sorry for neglecting you guys, but I am SO stressed with finals and I'm also switching dorms which has been a long process, and now I have to pack my stuff and move out.. so basically I haven't had time to take lots of nail photos. But I'm making it up to you guys by having a christmas manicure! Yay!

I used Lalya holographic polish Mercury Twilight as a base, and then using tape, I decorated with OPI Danke-shiny Red and OPI Jade is the New Black, and Essie Good as Gold for little accents!

This is my nails in direct light to show you the detail and holographic-ness! I love this manicure and I can't wait to do more Christmas nails, but I can't promise them too often because I'm still so busy!

Hope you all had a nice Chanukah, I might do some Chanukah nails even though it is over :p

Holographic Laser Mani - Try #2

Today's laser manicure is my second attempt - the first time I used real tape and the results were quite disastrous.

This time I actually used striping tape and the results were MUCH better. The base is a holographic silver and I am still new to using holos - so I decided to be safe and avoid top coat on this manicure.

Here is my awesome close up on that holographic goodness!

Of course there were some mistakes - my tape pulled up some of the holographic polish. I think I should wait a bit longer next time before I place the tape, but holo polishes dry so fast that I did it almost immediately after applying.

What do you think, guys?

Holographic Nail Polish (and apology!)

Hey guys, I know it has been over a week since I have posted! Work has been keeping me so tired so I tend to fall asleep as soon as I'm home - but I still have had time to paint my nails, just not to post about it.
Last weekend I bought a holographic effects Layla nail polish from Sephora - I chose Mercury Twilight, the "silver" of the collection.

I have heard from other bloggers that you shouldn't use base or top coat, so this was just two coats of the polish alone. It suggested I buff my nails first, which I did, but I used my own instead of the Layla buffer I would have had to purchase with it.

Here it looked in indirect light -

Doesn't seem too impressive, right? Just your run of the mill silver. BUT WAIT!

Here is the nail polish with "direct sunlight" (to be perfectly honest, there was no direct light so I just used flash and it didn't give it the full effect but you get the point) -

I know this is not the best quality photo of holographic nail polish, but it chipped by morning so I couldn't take more photos.

On the plus side, next Monday is my 21st birthday so I might have to do something super exciting for it!
