Sugar Spun Chocolate Strawberry Nail Art

 - SOME PRODUCTS PROVIDED FOR REVIEW -

Hello guys! I've got another scheduled post coming for you today as I enjoy myself in Las Vegas! I hope you are all having a great weekend so far.

So, I recently cleaned out my computer of all my old files and I came across some really old nail art looks that I absolutely loved (although my photography skills were definitely lacking back then!), and I thought it might be fun to recreate some of my favorites! Back in May 2013 (http://www.thenailpolishchallenge.com/2013/05/deadly-sins-challenge-day-3-gluttony.html) I did this really funky chocolate covered strawberry design using the sugar spun method, and it was actually one of my favorite designs from back in the day, so I decided to redo that manicure:

To achieve this look, I started with a base of Azature Coral Diamond. Once that was dry, I took my small nail art brush and drew on the strawberry stem using China Glaze Grass is Lime Greener fro HB Beauty Bar (don't forget to use the code POLISHCHALLENGE at checkout for 15% off your order!). Then with a toothpick and Cuccio Verona Lace, I created the little strawberry seeds. Finally, I used Zoya Nyssa and the sugar spun method to create the chocolate drizzles over my nails. To keep this look textured, I decided to skip the top coat.

Don't you just love how these turned out! I actually feel that when I look back at my manicure from 2013, it seems like my nail art skills haven't improved much - which might be because I actually haven't done a sugar spun nail art look since the last time I did these chocolate covered strawberries! But I am happy to say that I think my photography and lighting skills have improved a ton. Isn't it crazy how I've been blogging for so long?

It actually felt pretty strange to skip the top coat for this manicure, because I figured the chocolate drizzles would take forever to dry, but they actually ended up drying pretty quickly. I considered using top coat after I took these photos just to see what it would like - but I decided against it because it would probably be very lumpy and thick.

Here are the polishes I used for this design!

Do you have any other manicures of mine that you'd like to see recreated? I'd love to hear your old favorites!
