HB Beauty Bar: Essie Summer 2014 Neon Collection Swatches

Hi everyone! It feels like I haven't swatched in so long, even though it's been less than a week. But I'm back in action today with the new Essie 2014 Neon collection from HB Beauty Bar. This collection features six gorgeous bold creams that are perfect for summer. Let's check them out:

Although most of these polishes have a jelly-like consistency, they all dried to a semi matte finish (as is typical of a neon), so top coat is a must if you're looking for that glossy shine. (But I have to admit, the slightly rubbery finish on a jelly-like polish looks pretty cool!)

Let's start with a classic summer color - Serial Shopper is a light jelly-like orange cream, almost the color of a creamsicle! With this formula, the polish is pretty sheer, so you're looking at four coats for the opacity shown in the photo above - but I think three coats is sufficient for everyday wear (it's just easier to see VNL in my lightbox, so I needed the extra coat!) Like I said, this is a classic color for summer, it's so pretty and light! Shown above is four coats with top coat.

Too Taboo is a hot jelly-like fuchsia cream. It's a perfect toe color, if you ask me! Again, this formula was slightly sheer, but three coats gave me full opacity (and again, I think two is probably sufficient for everyday wear.) Shown above is three coats and top coat.

Sittin' Pretty is a pale neon lavender pastel that leans slightly blue. This one is so pretty, I could wear it every day! The formula is similar to the others - slightly jelly-like, and buildable for opacity. Shown above is four coats and top coat, but three coats should do the trick for most people.

Chills & Thrills is a gorgeous dusty neon purple leaning blue cream. This formula was the oddball of the collection - much more opaque than the others, this one had the classic "chalky" type of formula you would expect for a neon polish. You'll need a little bit of patience with this formula, but the color is so worth it! Just two coats and top coat for the photo above!

I'm Addicted is a bright turquoise jelly-like cream - now this is the perfect color for summer! I think I am addicted to it, haha! Formula is jelly-like and builds to perfect opacity in three to four coats. Shown above is four thin coats with top coat.

And finally, we have Vices Versa, a hot lime green jelly-like cream. This neon polish really catches attention, and it even makes my pale hands look tan! Same jelly-like formula as the other polishes, but this one seemed just slightly more sheer. Shown above is four coats with top coat, and you can see the jelly-like finish of this one.

Overall, I am loving these colors! It's a lot of layers to build up to full opacity, but it might be worth layering some of these gorgeous polishes over a white base to really make the neon color pop! My picks are I'm Addicted and Serial Shopper. Which ones do you like best?

You can purchase them all from HB Beauty Bar for $7.50 USD each, or $44 USD for the entire collection. And don't forget to use the code POLISHCHALLENGE for 15% off your entire order!
