Rasta Nail Art With Hex Nail Jewelry

Hello everyone and happy Easter to those of you who celebrate! Today also marks another "holiday" for some folks, April 20th. Now to be perfectly honest, I don't celebrate either of these holidays, and I tried my hand (pun intended) at doing Easter nail art and failed, so I went with some rasta nails instead! I was inspired by these charms I won in a contest from Hex Nail Jewelry for helping name their new collection, "Hex, Drugs, & Rock n Roll."

DISCLAIMER: I do not participate in any holiday celebrating the use of marijuana, nor do I condone the consumption of illegal drugs in any way. In fact, I'm quite against illegal drug use! I just wanted to make a fun manicure for you all ;) So please, be respectful!

To achieve this look, I started with a base of OPI Don't Bossa Nova Me Around on all nails except my ring finger, which used two coats of KBShimmer Eclipse. Then, I took a small nail art brush and painted sloppy lines using OPI Jade is the New Black, China Glaze Metro Pollen-tin (part of the new collection which I got at HB Beauty Bar), and PolishMeToGo Queen of Hearts (which glows in the dark!)

Once I topped everything with top coat, I stuck on the weed charm from Hex Nail Jewelry. I don't use nail glue for my 3D accessories, because I don't keep designs on my nails for very long, but for those of you who want the charms to stay on, I would say it's worth investing in some!

All of the charms I got are pretty curved to fit the nail, but there were a few edges sticking out as you can see in the photo above. But even running my fingers through my hair didn't make the charm fall off, so I didn't think it was an issue!

And again, here are the colors I used for this manicure. What do you think?

Second disclaimer: I titled this "rasta nail art" because the colors I used symbolize the Rastafarian movement and are often lumped together with the 4/20 "holiday." I'm not trying to offend anyone :)
