Zoya Magical Pixie Dust Spring 2014 Swatches

Hi guys! Today I have some swatches of the latest from Zoya, the Spring 2014 Magical Pixie Dust collection. This new collection of three textured polishes is different from their other Pixie Dusts because they include larger holographic hex glitters for more sparkle and texture. Anyway, let's get started:

First we have Lux, a pale pink textured polish with a ton of holographic shine. This one was a surprise favorite for me, because I'm not usually a fan of dusty pinks - but the sparkle of the larger hex glitters really made the polish come to life! The formula was as is expected of a textured polish - slightly thick. These polishes do require patience to apply, and you should make sure each layer dries before adding another. Shown above is three coats of Lux - it was opaque in two coats, but it looked slightly patchy in my photos, so I added a third.

Here is a close up on the nail and in the bottle. You can see a bit of patchiness at the tip of my nail, but it wasn't noticeable at all in real life. The polish is just a bit hard to spread evenly because it is thick.

Next we have Cosmo, a warm silver textured polish with a ton of holographic shine. This polish is a classic and just so gorgeous - but the most difficult formula of the three. I found that this polish was thicker than the other two, and I had some trouble spreading it evenly on the nail. Again, applying textured polishes takes patience and you should wait for each coat to dry before you apply the next. I used three coats of Cosmo for the swatch above.

Here is a closeup on the nail and in the bottle. Again, it looks slightly patchy - my lightbox is not very forgiving! But I can assure you that it looked more opaque in real life.

And finally we have my favorite of the three, Vega, a pale icy blue textured polish with a ton of holographic sparkle. I think this polish had the thinnest and easiest formula of the three, and the color is just stunning. It only took two coats to reach full opacity, but I added a third for consistency in my swatches. I just love the way the holographic hex glitters look next to the pale blue - almost like a mernaid!

Here is a closeup on the nail and in the bottle. Isn't it so pretty? I think this would make a perfect accent nail for an ocean themed manicure.

As with all textured polishes, the Magical Pixie Dusts are rough to the touch, and you shouldn't apply top coat if you want the full effect. Some people say you shouldn't even use base coat, but I did for the photos above and I still saw and felt texture.

Overall, I am surprised to say I really enjoy these. When I first heard that the new Pixie Dusts were going to be different, I was a bit nervous - but I am pleased with the results. If I had to choose one, it would be Vega, because of the gorgeous color and the ease with application.

All of these polishes are currently available on the Zoya website and in stores that sell Zoya, for $10 USD per bottle. Don't forget to follow Zoya on Facebook for news and promotions!

Which of these polishes is your favorite? What do you think of the textured trend?
