Cupcake Polish Fall Back in Time Collection: Swatches and Review

Hello everyone! Today I've got swatches of the awesome Fall 2014 collection by Cupcake Polish, called "Fall Back in Time". It features six gorgeous polishes, five holos and a microglitter, with a very vintage feel. And best of all, I've teamed up with the lovely Very Emily for this review - you can see her swatches here! It's nice to be able to see swatches from another lighting source, and Emily is a perfect collaborator because she uses natural light for her photos, while I use artificial lighting. (Not to mention, her swatches are flawless!) Anyway, let's have a look:

Don't you love that vintage vibe? I think these polishes really come alive on the nail - at first I thought the colors were quite average, but once I painted them on, I was really impressed with how unique they are! And the formulas were fabulous. Slightly thick, but very easy to apply, and very opaque! Let's look at them individually:

Too Haute to Handle is a golden copper linear holographic polish with a faint gold shimmer. A gorgeous polish, and perfect for fall! The holographic pigment was really strong, even in artificial light. I'm starting to really like colors like this on my skin tone! This polish was slightly gritty without top coat, but it was easily smoothed out. Shown above is two easy coats and top coat.

Rusting Over a Boy is a rusty red linear holographic polish with gold microflakes. What a unique addition to an already gorgeous polish! I fell in love with this one as soon as I put it on my nails. The combination of color with the gold flakes makes for a really stunning polish. And again, this color is perfect for fall. Shown above is two easy coats and top coat.

As Good as Rose Gold is the microglitter in the collection - a full coverage combination of pink, gold, and scattered holographic microglitters, along with some larger golden flakes. I was happy to see that this one built to full opacity on it's own, and I love the effect on the nail! This one dried to a slightly gritty finish, but just one coat of top coat smoothed it out. (Even though I actually really liked the rough texture!) Shown above is three thin coats with top coat.

Next Taupe Model is a warm toned purple holographic polish with a slight rose gold shimmer. Another gorgeous - and super holographic - polish! Shown above is two easy coats and top coat.

Neither Here Noir There is a grayed out dark purple linear holographic polish with a bright purple shimmer and a blue microflake. Wow! When I first saw this one in the bottle, I thought it looked very similar to Next Taupe Model. But they couldn't be more different! This polish is stunning and complex, and I think the moody tone is just perfect for cold weather. Shown above is two easy coats with top coat.

And finally we have Remembering Blue, a super light blue holographic polish with a golden shimmer. I love how this polish almost looks silver, but has a distinctly warm tone from the gold! It reminds me of the sky on a cold day. Shown above is two easy coats with top coat.

Overall, I am definitely into this collection. I never expected that holographic polishes could have a "vintage" feel, but I am pleasantly surprised to see that this collection totally succeeded! My top picks are Rusting Over A Boy, Neither Here Noir There, and Remembering Blue.

These polishes will be available starting tomorrow, September 7th, on the Cupcake Polish online shop for $13 USD per bottle. Don't forget to follow Cupcake Polish on Facebook for news and information.

What do you think of these vintage inspired polishes? Which is your favorite?

These polishes were provided for my honest review.
