Nubar POP Collection Spring 2015 Swatches and Review

- PROVIDED FOR REVIEW -
Hello everyone! I hope you all had a nice weekend. Today I've got more swatches for you, this time from a new-to-me brand called Nubar. I'd heard of them before, but this was my first experience trying them out! A few fun facts about Nubar - they're 5-free and vegan, and their collections come in adorable little carrying cases. The collection I have today is their new Spring 2015 shades, the POP Collection, which consists of eight bright cremes - four warm tones, and four cool tones.

Okay, let me start off by gushing that these formulas are AMAZING. Most of them were fully opaque in two coats, and the brush was incredibly easy to use - it's shaped differently than most bottlecaps, so it felt easy to grip as well.

I actually used the new Nubar POLI-CURE® top coat for these swatches. This new top coat supposedly has the features of a UV curing top coat, so it air dries in less than two minutes. I was shocked to see that this was actually true - by the time I had my fourth finger painted with the top coat, my first nail was completely dry. I have never used a top coat that dries so fast! It does have a strong smell, but I found myself enjoying it. It's a lot thinner than the top coats I usually use, but it still has a nice glossy finish. I can see myself using this top coat every day, especially if I am in a rush. (This top coat is also supposed to last for 7 days, but I haven't been able to test the wear time.)

Anyway, let's look at these pretty polishes!

Encore is a lovely dusty reddish brown creme. I didn't think this particular shade was too springy, but it's really pretty - and it reminds me of the Pantone Color of the Year, Marsala. I think this shade definitely has a place in my office-appropriate polish drawer, and since the formula is so incredible, I don't think I will be able to resist using it for nail art. Shown above is two easy coats with top coat.

Cover Girl is an incredibly creamy light pastel pink creme. This one is so perfect for spring, and the formula was amazing! It's opaque in two but the photo above shows three thin coats with top coat.

Now, I'm not normally a fan of orange polish, but VIP is just so pretty! It's a bright orange creme that's perfect for summer - I think I'll be using this one a lot in nail art too! Shown above is three thin coats with top coat, but it's opaque in two.

Just a note: Cover Girl and VIP are cremes, but earlier swatches of this collection from some other bloggers (like Wondrously Polished) show them as jellies. I don't have an official explanation of this, but I assume that the jellies were an error and they were reformulated as cremes! I'm much happier with the cremes :)

Moving on! Spotlight is a pale lemony yellow creme with just the slightest green undertone. It's a little bit more sheer than the other cremes in this collection, so it's opaque in three coats, but I added a fourth with top coat just to be sure of the full coverage. This is another perfect spring color!

Prima Donna is the first of the cool-toned shades, a beautiful pale minty turquoise creme. I seriously am obsessed with this color - it reminds me of Tiffany blue! I could wear this color for the entire season - plus the incredible formula will be great for nail art (I just can't stress that enough with this collection, haha). Shown above is two easy coats with top coat.

Choirgirl is a perfect light gray creme. This might be my new go-to gray - one of my favorite colors to wear as a full manicure, and this one just looks so pretty. Formula was unsurprisingly perfect. Shown above is two coats with top coat!

Fan Club is a bright aqua creme. Wow! This color looks like the perfect summer blue, doesn't it? Another color that I know I will be reaching for again and again. Shown above is two easy coats with top coat.

Last but definitely not least, we have Media, a bright primary blue creme. This is a great staple to have in your collection, and blues like this can be tough to apply - but this one applied flawlessly and gave great coverage in just two coats. Maybe not an especially springy color, but it's definitely good to have year round! Shown above is two easy coats with top coat.

Overall, I am OBSESSED with this collection! I have a newfound love for Nubar cremes and their perfect application. I can honestly say that there is not one color in this collection I don't love. As I mentioned multiple times, I think these will all be incredible to use in nail art, since the colors are so pretty and the formulas are so easy to work with.

I don't see these colors on their website yet, but Nubar polishes can be purchased at their online shop here. You can follow them on Twitter to stay updated on new collections and buying information!

  5. I really love Nubar polishes, they bottle & brush design might be my favorite ever actually. However, they've been laying kinda low the past few years so I haven't tried anything in a long time. I'll need to check them out again! That Poli-cure top coat sounds excellent!

  10. The colours are gorgeous, although I probably have dupes of several of them. Prima Donna looks gorgeous, I probably have 4 or 5 tiffany blues/mints but what's one more? ;) And I'm curious to try that top coat now.
